Quick Overview

The wine: White Rioja used to be a very individual and traditional wine, aged in oak barrels for long, long periods. These days most of them, like this one, are made in stainless steel to be drunk young and fresh. It's clean cut with lemon, melon and exotic fruit flavours

The story: Baron de Ley is a modern bodega, built only in 1985. At its centre, it has restored a 16th century Benedictine Monastery, which now houses its offices. Surrounding this are its own vineyards, giving the winery the feel of a Bordeaux chateau. It is situated in the Rioja Baja district, whose wines tend to be more opulent in style.

Tasting Notes

With its good body and quite serious structure, this wine can be enjoyed in a number of ways. It's a good aperitif and perfectly suited to paella or crustaceans. Super with grilled cod with a tomato and sweet pepper sauce.
